5 Things To Do In Town

One of the things thDoop Dee Doo...Doop Dee Doo...at plagues me during game play is the "Stir Crazy" moodlet for my unemployed Sims.  (Don't get me started on their use of the word "crazy," let's just keep moving, shall we?)

Sims seem to go stir crazy after only a few days without leaving their home lot.  Maybe it's a week.  At any rate, it seems like every time you turn around, I've got a stir crazy Sim.  (Note: the Hates the Outdoors trait results in a Sim who never gets Stir Crazy.)

But what to do to scratch their itch to leave the house?

1.    Wander Aimlessly
Sometimes I just can't be bothered to deal with it.  The easiest solution - short of ignoring it of course - is to just switch to map view, click on a park, and tell your Sim to go there.  What they do there is up to them!

They only need to spend an hour or two out of the house to lose the negative moodlet.  When I send Sims to the park on their own, it seems like they usually plant themselves on a bench and read a book.  Whatever!  Go nuts!  I don't care!

2.    Collect From Local Businesses

Next easiest is to send them out to fetch the weekly proceeds from property.  Buying shares in local businesses is a great investment, and I definitely recommend it.  You earn at least $1,000 every two weeks, which is pretty sweet!

The only down side is that you have to actually physically go to the business to collect your money.  Not sure why they can't just mail it to you.  At any rate, just have your Sim use their cell phone or computer to "Check Real Estate" and you're set to send them off on their merry way.

3.    Swipe Produce
Obviously you can engaged in the collecting activities, like fishing, picking up seeds, and finding rocks and gems.  (Get the Collection Helper if you want to do this.)  Or you can find the public trees, and harvest all the apples.  Stop in at the community garden and harvest all the potatoes.  Knock on the door of a house with a garden, then excuse yourself to go harvest it.  Tee hee!  It's all the fruit, without all the work.

4.    Study Time
Your Sim's book learning will proceed a lot faster at the library.  Plunk them down with a skill book, and maximize your playing time by knocking out that moodlet AND building their skills.

Taking classes has the same effect, although they cost money, and are only offered during regular business hours.  Most classes are long enough for your Sim to lose the Stir Crazy moodlet - and after the class they will often dawdle around on the sidewalk outside, giving them extra "out of the house" time.

5.    Get Naughty!

Although there aren't nearly as many options for Public Woo Hoo compared to Sims 2, you can still send your Sims off for a naughty adventure.  After taking a tour at the military base, theater, science lab, or City Hall, you can have your Sims Woo Hoo there.   (Hope they don't get caught by the security guard!)
