If you have the free time, you can max out your free Energy points by checking in on the game every 75 minutes.
Playing the Sims Social Facebook game can be a very frustrating experience, because there are five or six different limitations that you have to work around. One of the most basic currencies is Energy points, which you have to expend any time you want to do anything interesting. In this context, "interesting" means "will earn you something more than a green smiley." This includes social interactions (where you can earn Social points and crafting ingredients like Fury or Goodwill) and physical actions like clearing weeds, painting, gardening, and so forth.
You can buy energy points, of course. (Of course you can!) But seriously, it's not worth your real world money! You can also gift energy points to friends when you visit their homes. Be sure to do this, if the game offers you the chance. What goes around comes around, after all!
Sometimes you earn energy points at random by doing heavy labor like yardwork. In my experience you gain about 1 Energy point at random for every 5 that you spend cutting the grass and pulling weeds.
You also get five free Energy points when you visit a friend's house. You can only spend them there, of course. In addition to social interactions with your friend's Sim, you can also earn money by watering their plants, rummaging through their trash, and cleaning or repairing anything that needs it.
But the easiest way to get more Energy points is to… wait. You accrue 1 energy point for every 5 minutes of real world clock time. However, these points are capped at 15. This means that if you have the free time, you can max out your free Energy points by checking in on the game every 75 minutes.
This is the best way to build a lot of cash quickly: spend a day, a weekend, whatever, and set reminder notes for yourself to hop into the game about every hour and a half. Each time you do, use all of your Energy points. You can work on clearing out all the weeds that come with your lot, or by performing skill-based actions like painting, writing, or cooking.
And heck, you might as well do some gardening while you're at it! Pumpkins take 4 hours from planting to harvest time, which should match up well with your check-in schedule. If you are checking the game every 2 hours, then the pumpkins will be ready every other time. Just be sure to only do this if you know you will be checking the game again soon. Otherwise your pumpkins will wither, and you will lose out on the money!
