EA/Maxis announces "The Sims Mobile"

EA/Maxis announces "The Sims Mobile" Another new Sims title to add to the list

Last week EA/Maxis made a surprise announcement: They are "soft-launching" a new mobile Sims game. This one is available only in Brazil for now, but it will be rolling out to the rest of the world soon.

You may be familiar with The Sims Freeplay, which is a "click and wait" style mobile game at heart. The Sims Mobile will be a mobile version of the "real" Sims games, including Create-A-Sim, Build Mode, and more.

The Sims Mobile will also have an interesting social feature. "Parties are an important part of the game and you can choose to attend parties with your real life friends! You can even develop relationships with other people’s Sims and have them eventually move in and live with your Sim. The type of relationship remains private so you can tell whatever story you like, what is shared is the relationship progress – so a friend might be telling a love story with your Sim, but you may be telling the story that our Sims are enemies."

The Sims Mobile will not replace The Sims Freeplay, nor will it (obviously) replace The Sims 4. But many fans are worried that Sims Mobile will draw attention and resources away from Sims 4.

Many of the developers who had been working on Sims 4 have been pulled over to the Sims Mobile development team. People are worried that The Sims 4's difficult launch, lukewarm sales figures, and lackluster schedule of expansion packs mean that EA/Maxis has been looking to ditch it for something fresher.
