Hilarious Sims 3 patch notes

Best game ever
One of the more underappreciated aspects of the Sims franchise is the hilarious patch notes. Patches come out every few months, and few people bother to read all the details before installing them. But there are a lot of gems hidden in the patch notes, including:
  • "The Murphy Bed has been made less lethal"
  • "Pregnant Sims can no longer brawl"
  • "Sims can no longer "Try for Baby" with the Grim Reaper"
  • "Ghosts will now properly exit vehicles after arriving at their destination"
  • "Toddlers can no longer get fleas"
And many, many more.
These patch notes speak to two things: the great sense of tongue-in-cheek humor on the Sims dev team, and the amazing complexity of the Sims world.
For example, that Murphy Bed note. You will notice that it says that Murphy Beds are now LESS lethal. Not NOT lethal. That's because Murphy Beds can kill; the developers just decided that they should not kill as often as they had been.
Or the bit about no longer being able to "Try for Baby" with the Grim Reaper. Actually, this one broke a lot of hearts in the player community.
People had been getting up their relationship with the Grim Reaper and then having babies. To everyone's surprise, those babies were born with black skin. Not "black skin" in the sense of "black people" meaning "actually more of a dark brown." I mean black skin as in, literally the color black. It was pretty eerie.
When the developers took this away from players, there was a small but furious outcry. I mean come on, who wouldn't want a Reaper Baby? But it turned out that this had been a bug, not a feature, so they patched it. Sad.
(By the way, if you want to have a baby with another Sim but you can't get their relationship high enough, the cheat is pretty simple. Use testingcheatsenabled true and then you can click and drag up their relationship score. I usually have to do it a few times before the higher score "sticks," not sure why.)
One of my favorite patch notes is, "An issue has been fixed that caused Unicorns to lose their special powers when using the Make All Happy cheat." Because how many games would fix problems that happen when the players use cheat codes? In theory, these codes are not even supposed to be accessed by the user. But when it comes to cheats, the Sims devs have got our backs.
