I'm going to EA Play!

Free tickets to see Sims premieres (and more)

EA Play is an event being held by EA in Hollywood this weekend (June 10-12). The event will be showcasing all of EA's new games, including Star Wars Battlefront II, Titanfall 2, and the newest FIFA game. Obviously my big interest is in their live demos of the new Sims 4 content, and the new Sims Mobile game.

Tickets are free, and if you act fast, they might still have some left for Monday! I assume the Saturday and Sunday tickets went fast - but since I'm going to be out of town that weekend, I couldn't have gone then anyway.

I'm so excited about going that I started tackling the project of fixing up my old Sims blog. I had two over the years, long-running story blogs, but they both got corrupted by Wordpress malware. (Boo!) I also lost the original domain name because I forgot to renew it for ONE DAY, it got snapped up by a bot, and they have been holding it hostage for $2300 ever since.

Sims blogs don't really seem to be a "thing" anymore. There was a time, in the heyday of Sims 2 and 3, when you couldn't throw a rock on the internet without hitting a Sims blog. But blogging overall has declined as a medium, and if the sales figures for Sims 4 are any indication, players' enthusiasm for the 4th Sims game has lapsed. (The Sims 4 sold 5 million copies worldwide, and was the best-selling PC game for 2014 and 2015. However, The Sims sold 200 million copies, The Sims 2 sold 13 million copies, and The Sims 3 clocks in at 10 million copies.)

At any rate, I'm super curious to see what kind of content they will be unveiling for The Sims 4, and I'd love to get my hands on The Sims Mobile to see how it compares with the PC game. (I hope it's not as gutted as the console version of The Sims 2... that was a terrible chapter in the Sims games history.)
